5 styling tips on strategic use of scarves

One of the best fashion accessories for emphasizing your assets and hiding body areas you’re not comfortable with is a versatile silk printed scarf. As far as in 1000 b.c. people understood and appreciated how a strategic placement of a scarf can improve an overall physical appearance and disposition.

Most of your wardrobe investment should go into a fabulous quality accessory such as a printed silk scarf that will fit you and pull any outfit together either you’re size 4 or 14. From a financial stand point it doesn’t worth to invest much into size transitional clothes during the process of a weight loss.

Here are 5 styling tips on strategic use of scarves

1. Wearing scarves that hang down style (long oblong/large square) make your legs appear longer and create a slimmer shape overall.

2. A simple act of styling a gorgeous scarf around the neck will bring up attention around your face that’s usually the thinnest part of the body.

3. Create every body flattering v-neck wear a scarf tied hanging low and tied in the front

4. You can go sleeveless even if upper arms bother you by wearing a scarf around the shoulders and upper arms. Works best with large square scarves

5. If you’re not comfortable with your backside then cover it with a large square scarf folded as a sarong. Can be worn with any daily outfit and swimwear.

Fashion in movies: My favorite accessory part 1

Fashion comes alive on the movie screens giving our favorite characters and actors an iconic status. Since the beginning of the cinema actor's wardrobe was as much as a part of the plot as the happy end. Each piece of apparel, including important extras, is carefully selected by directors to make sure it gives a character or a scene believable factor. If you pay attention to any scene you notice that the main character's outfit stands out the most in color and overall look. Since the movies are usually made about a year in advance some directors prefer to work with "neutral style" so, the fashion won't appear out of date by the film release.
There is been a lot of cross-pollination between fashion and movies. Currently there are more hot actresses sporting latest styles on magazine covers then professional models. Since 1940's fashion designers are becoming revered as the costume designers like Jean Paul Gaultier in "The Fifth Element" and many others. Movie fashion influence extends into creating household names out of designers and stylists who dress imaginary characters. Just think what "Sex And The City" did for Patricia Field and Manolo Blahnic.
Some of the most recognizable fashion items in the movie's fantasyland that defies all genres, generations and genders is a scarf. Here are some of my favorite "on the screen scarf" moments:
Who can forget notorious Miranda Priestly in "The Devil Wears Prada" who had boxes of scarves stashed in her office, home and of course, her luggage (best fashion accessory) to wear everyday. Here is how Miranda's scarf was styled.

A scarf was tied in a loose way to add a sexy finishing touch to Carrie's/SJP's ultra feminine men's suit in "Sex And The City". Here is how it was done

"Twilight"s Ashley Greene/Alice inspired Scarf styling tips Part 2

Here is Part 2 of Ashley Greene's "The Twilight's saga New Moon" character Alice scarf styling tips:

I experimented with two different size and shape scarves.

Here is how to replicate this style with a long oblong scarf:

Step 1: Drape the scarf over your shoulders

Step 2: Wrap the ends around the neck

Step 3: Tie the scarf's ends in the center front

Scarf used here is long 10"x60" oblong Reptile Chain 

Here is how to replicate this style with a large square scarf:

Step 1: Fold the scarf with corners inside diagonally as shown

Step 2: Drape the scarf in the front

Step 3: Wrap the scarf in opposite direction around the neck

Step 4: Tie hanging scarf edges into a knot at the neckline center

"Twilight"s Ashley Greene/Alice inspired scarf styling tips part 1

I have a tradition of seeing a lot of movies during the holiday seasons and “the Twilight’s saga New Moon” was definitely on my must to see list. Ashley Greene’s character Alice caught my eye the most since she was wearing scarves in some major scenes and looked very stylish. Here are my “Ashley Greene/ Twilight’s Alice” scarf styling tips on how to replicate these looks:  

In an exciting "Race to Volterra"scene Alice wore her scarf in a very glamorous way as it should be while you're driving something as fabulous as a yellow Porsche:

Here is how to achieve this look:

Step 1: Fold a large 36" square scarf in half

Step 2: Place the scarf on your head and tie it loosely under your chin

 

Step 3: Loop on end through the knot and make it a bog loose knot

If you like to go for extra glamour add some big sunglasses

Gifting without gift wrapping

Most of us have a soft spot for beautifully packaged gifts regardless of an occasion. When shopping for one the way an item is displayed is a big selling point for me. Being eco-conscious I’d prefer not to use more paper then necessary and personally, I’m a little too impatient for wrapping presents. Also, being in an economic crunch an already packaged gift eliminates the need for spending more money on wrapping paper, tape, bows and other wrapping necessities of your choice. The saved money can go towards better gifts options or put to another use. 

This concept of gifting without gift-wrapping inspired me to think of how I want my line of scarves to be presented. My choice was to go with a great quality clear open lid box that beautifully shows off a scarf’s pattern and fabrication. The look of happiness of instant gratification on the other person’s face and elimination of paper mess is the only Thank You that I need:)

Silk Infinity scarf styling tip

In my never ending experimentations for various ways to incorporate silk scares into my wardrobe and come up with easy styling ways to make the best of this versatile accessory. With the infinity scarf trend out  there I've tried on various infinity scarves of there but found that i don't like the bulkiness of heavier fabrications and the softness of silk feels much pleasant to the skin. Also, i'd have to buy another winter only accessory instead of having one all year around. With that said, here is...

Step 3. Loop the scarf twice around your neck
