Silk Infinity scarf styling tip

In my never ending experimentations for various ways to incorporate silk scares into my wardrobe and come up with easy styling ways to make the best of this versatile accessory. With the infinity scarf trend out  there I've tried on various infinity scarves of there but found that i don't like the bulkiness of heavier fabrications and the softness of silk feels much pleasant to the skin. Also, i'd have to buy another winter only accessory instead of having one all year around. With that said, here is...

Silk Infinity Scarf Look in 3 steps

Step 1. Use a long oblong scarf
Step 2. Tie the scarf's ends together
Step 3. Loop the scarf twice around your neck
Here is the final Look

By wearing silk scarf this look can be taken from casual to evening.

Scarf used here is long oblong from Reptile Chain Collection

Why a silk printed scarf is your best travel accessory

Traveling always makes all of us ponder what to pack or not to pack. Regardless of the reason or destination we always want to look our best with the minimum amount of effort. When every inch of space counts silk scarves of different shapes and sizes make the best of your luggage real estate and become a perfect fashion travel item. A stylish silk scarf can transform one outfit into several outfits with a simple addition or using a different way of styling one.
As a frequent traveler myself here are some tips that I like to share to make silk scarves your best fashion friend:

1. Find silk scarves with pattern colors that work well with your outfits, bag or shoes. Or choose more vivid color scarves that bring out the color of your eyes and hair.

2. Silk scarves are very easy to pack and take up only few inches of space. You can pack only a few key outfits and 5 different scarves to create 10 different looks and have more room for your favorite shoes.

3. Some of my favorite and proved traveling techniques are rolling and folding silk scarves to help minimize wrinkles. By rolling a long 10”x60” oblong scarf into a tight tube you’ll keep one ready to wear.
A large silk 36” square scarf takes up only a few inches of space when folded into a small square.
A medium 21” square scarf takes up about 2” of storage space when rolled up.
This technique also allows the silk scarves to be tucked among other luggage items.

4. Silk scarves are lightweight and require minimum care while traveling. You can pack some in your luggage and tie one around your bag or neck to have it handy in case you get too cold or decide to change your look on a whim. You never know where you’re going to meet you next mr.rightJ

5. When traveling we tend to choose more “color safe” outfits particularly when it’s a business related trip. A colorful scarf adds a pop of color and makes a business attire go from blah to wow. For example adding transforms any black pant suit will into a sexy classical look.
Great silk printed scarves give you a wide variety of looks that’ll take you from “I have nothing to wear” to “I can’t decide which I like more”

Care for silk scarves and other silk items

With the approaching holiday season we're making sure that our holiday best looks its best. Here are some tips on how to clean silk scarves and other silk items to keep them looking vibrant and beautiful. All natural silk fabrication blends are delicate and required a softer touch.
Before you wash your silk scarves please take in consideration the overall quality of the item. If the scarves are at a lower price the chances are the quality of printed inks and fabrications are not the best and will be more susceptible to color fading, ink bleeding as well as fabric stretching. Please test a small portion before preceding with the wash. If your scarf is a little more expensive then the overall manufacturing process is of a better quality in terms of inks, fabrication and with careful maintenance it can last forever.

The easiest way is to have the scarves dry cleaned but if you'd like to get involved here are some easy suggestions:
Hand wash silk scarves in lukewarm or cold water using soft detergent. I like using "Woolite", "Tide" or "All" dye and fragrance free versions. Do not use Bleach not even color safe bleach. Soak the scarves for a few minutes. Stained areas can be gently rubbed with fingers and a little extra detergent. Wash the detergent off and squeeze to remove excess water. Do not twist or wring the scarf and hang or lay to dry.  Warm iron can be used if needed.

Extra maintenance tip: avoid spraying perfumes directly on any fabric to prevent color and fabric damage.

If you have more silk scarves cleaning suggestions please share.

Preparation for my trade show (Accessories the Show) at the Javits Center

All photos by Sabina Les. Photos are allowed to be used with permission and a courtesy link would be appreciated
Today was my first hand experience with participating in a fashion trade show. The Jacob Javits center was in a process of being very nicely decorated and was surprisingly well organized since there were few major trade shows set up was going on at the same time. The porter services were readily available and assigned to each show and the check in process was quick and painless. I was even warned to hold on to my "food tickets" since they're can't be replaced if lost:)The "Accessories The Show" and "Moda" entrance downstairs at the Javits Center (the guy in the picture was my porter) and goes from Sept. 22nd-24th, from 9am-6pm and from 9am-4pm on Sept 24th.

First hour of preparation. My Booth#159 and was missing a company sign and a table. It's a nice size corner booth and was fun to decorate. My inspiration was a clean modern closet look. I had a few hours to decorate since we were only allowed to stay there until 4pm.

Still playing with the way the best way to display the scarves and finally got my table. My green rug makes me feel at home and i was told that it matches the entrance look of the show:)

Various scarf styling pictures are adhered to the walls by the full length mirror. It's beginning to look like a walk in closet of my dreams:) Love my Bergdorf Goodman hat box! I actually bought a hat there to get this box:) The 21" Square Signature Film Strip scarf on the left is a giveaway entry and will belong to a lucky winner at the end of the show. The booth is almost ready except the sign. I'm happy with the way it came out. A little more to do tomorrow before the show starts.

Sienna Miller in "After Miss Julie" on Broadway

I went to see Sienna Miller in her Broadway debut in "After Miss Julie" play on Sept 19 that was presented by http://roundabouttheatre.org. It was show's "trial performance" in front of the sold out house before the official opening night on October 22nd. The play had a realistic subject matter of a love triangle: a woman (maid), her emotionally manipulative cheating fiancee (driver and butler) and Miss Julie who tries to break traditional class and sex roles. For about 1 hour and 30 minutes the three actors on stage gave it all: drama, comedy, a bird murder, cigarette smoking, sexual tension and the relationship issues. Sienna Miller gave a really good psychopath:) Overall, i liked the play. It had a nice chemistry between the actors, good dialogue and fast energy.
My closeness to the stage allowed me to admire 40's feminine dresses and pencil skirt suits, red lips and big curls. The only man in the show, Jonny Lee Miller, who's know for his main role in Eli Stone, managed to change on stage (yes, we got to see him in his undies:) in a couple of period man's suits.
After the show Sienna came out to sign some autographs wearing boyfriend jeans, plunging v-neck wrapped around light heather grey top, coral red necklace, few silver bangles, burgundy Prada bag. Her hair had an easy wave and natural lips, some black eyeliner, strong eyelash make up and deep red nails.
