On the way from another great fashion show downtown I was passing by Payless store in Soho and I noticed commotion on the street and Patricia Field’s trademark long red hair inside the store. No wonder this internationally recognizable fashion icon brought in a big crowd of fans for her celebrity appearance to promote Fashion Night Out New York City and her shoe collection for Payless at the largest shopping event in New York City’s history. Fashion Night Out New York is an initiative by CFDA, Vogue and New York City that brought us over 800 participating retailers to celebrate fashion, support retails apparel industry and restore consumer confidence. The city was abuzz with apparel stores opened until 11pm, offering tasty treats, drinks and special discounts along with celebrity appearances. In Downtown Soho, The Emmy Award winning stylist who brought us famous Sex and the City and Ugly Betty styles looked cool and edgy herself and at home posing with her exciting fans and signing autographs. As always she was all smiles, energy and had the attention for everybody. We even had a few minutes to chat about the old times and fabulous parties at her house. I always admired Pat’s ability to stay resilient and constantly reinvent herself and her style. For the Fashion Night Out New York event she was clad in black and grey and wore coveted by me long leather like gloves. I’m sure after her appearance at the store she’d be off to a fabulous and fun party.
